I saw a psychic earlier last year who told me she saw me in Winnipeg for work, which made no sense at the time, but during my final interview, an “e” team member mentioned that I would be helping with a project in Winnipeg and I knew the stars had aligned!
After finally settling down in Calgary, I decided it was time to transition to a place that was equally client facing, engaging, dynamic, and exciting, so when I was called for an interview with “e”, I was over the moon! It seemed like the perfect fit.
Not only has the “e” team welcomed me with open arms, but so have many of our trusted suppliers and vendors. Being a newbie here- I am so appreciative of that.
There was a lot to learn in the beginning, and there always is- which is part of the reason working for “e” is so engaging. The projects I’ve worked on have all been so different: conferences, fundraisers, awards ceremonies, company mergers, holiday parties- you name it. I have learned so much from the different projects I’ve been a part of, and also from the different team members I’ve worked alongside. For example, it sounds so simple but everything is figure-outable. I know that things don’t always go as planned on-site, and you have to improvise, but when Erin Brokovich couldn’t make her keynote speech in person for Energy Disruptors, luckily we had the technology on site to hologram her in! There was a lot of logistical work involved, in an extremely short amount of time, but the team pulled it off- and I was in awe. The “e” team, our contractors, suppliers and clients are always teaching me that together as a team we can make the impossible happen to create an amazing experience!
From working my first “e” on-site event at Energy Disruptors last September, to my most recent events in Victoria and Vancouver- it has been quite the ride! For those who don’t know, I am an avid traveler who has collected many stamps on my passport along the way. During my interview I was asked if I was okay with traveling for work, I, of course, gave an enthusiastic yes! - I just had no idea HOW much travel would be involved, and I must say that I love it- I’ve seen so many new cities this year. I was lucky enough to see an MLB [Major League Baseball] game in Kansas City, go hiking on Vancouver Island, explore Vancouver’s awesome restaurant scene, and the list goes on!
To sum it up, it has been a great year full of a lot of learning, adventures and excitement, and I really can’t wait to see what the future holds for me with “e”!
