CALGARY TOWER 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Event Design & Management | Creative Strategy & Experience Design

Key Elements: Health & Safety Management | Entertainment Management

To celebrate its 50th anniversary of the internationally recognized and iconic symbol of the city, the Calgary Tower engaged us to help them throw a block party exactly 50 years to the date on June 30, 2018.

  • The Experience

With the completion of the tower in 1968, we celebrated with a 60’s theme! Giant milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, burgers, and a 60’s diner themed server marked seating areas, while iconic toys; Hula-hoops, Frisbees, and Slinkys, were used to create interactive and decorative photo opportunities. The ultimate photo-op was the vintage VW photo booth complete with 60’s themed props. Several food trucks as well as free Foothill Creamery ice cream were enjoyed by guests, and a caricature artist, balloon artist, DJ Goodword, and BassBus kept the public entertained as they waited in line up to go to the Observation Deck for 50% off.

The street in front of the Calgary Tower was partially closed to implemented a hoard of security measures and staff kept guests safe. The execution included a 10-page comprehensive special event safety and emergency response plan and included a dedicated safety team on-site for the duration.

  • Whizbang Moment

Sponsors, partners and a record-breaking attendance of community, all came together to honour the iconic and well-loved tower of the city.

"The event was a 1960s themed block party and e=mc²'s team did a superb job of choosing wardrobe and decor to capture the sense of nostalgia that we aimed for. At the event, e=mc² 's onsite staff did an exemplary job of managing the event which was no small feat given the 4,000+ in attendance.

I would not hesitate to recommend e=mc² events to other potential clients "
