From then to now was the inspiration for the event design where we would celebrate 50 years of Morrison relationships and customer first service in a fun interactive way, on “Morrison Way” at The Block Party! The “Block Party” was a journey through the decades with the creation of a cul-de-sac appropriately named “Morrison Way”.
Guests arrived at the event to a pre function space that was transformed into a neighborhood backyard through the use of backyard props including Adirondack chairs, turf grass, bicycles, barbeques and swing sets. Characters dressed as Stepford Wives from the 1960s, and barbequing masters opened doors into the main event room and guests began to travel back in time.
Inside, a vintage VW Beetle offered guests a journey starting in the 60’s, while the brand new version led them to the “now”.
The houses in Morrsion Way were facades of digital replicas of Morrison Homes’ architectural designs of each of the eras. Behind the facades, floor plans were projected on the ground while interior design from the decade was featured. The “Block Party” came alive with street props, a neighbourhood ice lemonade stand (named for the founders wife), decade-inspired themed food stations, uniquely branded vintage décor, and interactive activities like arcade games and entertainment.
The program was unique for Morrison Homes. A heart-warming video was created to showcase the history and energy of the client. The dueling piano players played the President and CEO’s favourite song as he walked onto stage to give thanks to everyone in the room. A music video produced prior to the event played overhead and strategically matched the event by using music and decade-reminiscent graphics to showcase the Morrison Homes journey from inception to today. An emotional photo opportunity was created as the first Morrison Homes homeowners (from 1965) shook hands near the stage with the newest homeowners as the crowed cheered. The formal program ended with a cake cutting ceremony including the founding Morrison couple and their current executive team. A streamer blast reignited the dance party and a well-known local party band played hits from the decades into the night.
